Abstract

“One Caricature, One Painting” activity aimed that students can make sense of proverbs and idioms
better, that the things they learned should be permanent in their memory by addressing to their visual
intelligence with caricatures and paintings, and that they should associate proverbs and idioms with
their daily life. The activity was implemented after students learned proverbs and idioms and the
difference between them. Students formed groups of six, rolled a die with picture or caricature faces,
and guessed a proverb or idiom based on the rolled face. The group with the correct answer won the
game. The game involved a class discussion about the meaning of six proverbs or idioms. Towards the
end of the lesson the teacher read short stories to the class and the students guessed which proverb or
idiom would fit the story. This activity helped students connect the idioms and provers with real life.
