Stating Opinion Technique with Gifted Learners

This activity was prepared for “The student shows tolerance to individual differences in communication” attainment which is in the "Communication and Human Rights" unit of 7th grade Social Studies course. The activity aimed to make students gain the attainment as well as reaching some higher level metacognitive skills. An interdisciplinary method and practices that would enhance active participation were utilised with a view to achieving these aims. The activity, carried out with gifted learners, made use of developing opinions, and photograph and folk song analysis techniques. Observations during the activity show that students enjoyed the activity and participated in it with great interest. Besides, the students indicated that they internalized differences at the end of the activity. The activity also enabled to discover some students’ ability in writing poems, articles, and jokes, drawing pictures or composing songs.
