Abstract

Puzzle is one of the important materials used in social studies teaching. The aim of this study is to show how to use puzzles in social studies courses. In this study, four puzzles, prepared for teaching middle school 6th grade social studies ‘Individual and Society’ learning theme, ‘Learning Social Studies’ unit’s subjects such as event, fact, perception, right, freedom and responsibility were applied to middle school 6th graders. The results showed that in the application process of puzzles, the majority of students were more active and they learned these subjects by fun.
