In the present study, an activity about sustainable transportation, one of the components of ecological footprint, was designed. The purpose of the activity is to make undergraduate students question why it is important to make sustainable transportation preferences by using their critical thinking skills within the context of education for sustainable development. Through the designed activity, it was aimed to make undergraduate students meaningfully understand how they reduce their footprints by preferring sustainable transportation. The outcomes of this activity were evaluated by means of interviews conducted with the students. It was revealed that the students developed positive thoughts towards their sustainable transportation preferences to reduce their ecological footprints. At the end of the study, the designed activity was evaluated in terms of its applicability in elective and compulsory courses offered within the context of environmental education, environmental sciences and education for sustainable development.
